The Kannada Holy Bible includes all chapters from both the Old Testament and the New Testament, reflecting a significant achievement in scripture translation.

The initial effort to translate the Bible into Kannada was undertaken by Serampore missionaries, with their work reaching completion in 1809. Unfortunately, this manuscript was lost in the fire at the Serampore press in 1812.

In the same year, portions of the Bible were translated into Kannada, and by 1823, the New Testament was published. The complete Bible was made available in 1831, thanks to the efforts of notable translators such as John Hands, who established the London Missionary Society station in Bellary in 1810, and William Reeve, active in both Bellary and Bangalore.

A revised version of the New Testament followed in 1850, with further revisions issued in 1854. The dedicated work of LMS missionaries culminated in the publication of the complete Bible by 1865.
